DAY 2 HANOI CITY AND CYCLING TOUR(B/L/-)
HALF DAY HANOI CITY TOUR
Visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Monday, Friday and during the entire months of September & October) and his former residence (closed on Monday and Friday), One-Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature, known as the first university of Vietnam and built more than 1,000 years ago. Afterwards, continue to Hoan Kiem Lake and visit the Ngoc Son Temple.

CYCLING AROUND WESTLAKE
Enjoy a leisurely bicycle ride around Westlake (13.5 km), Hanoi’s biggest inner city lake. After a short briefing, start your journey which will take you past temples, pagodas, markets and numerous residential areas. Say “hello” to smiling children and inhale the special atmosphere that surrounds beautiful Westlake. Visit Quan Thanh Temple, one of the four sacred guardian temples of Hanoi. Satisfy your senses with fresh air, gentle breezes and lotus fragrance, stemming from the lotus ponds near the lake. Stop at Tao Sach Pagoda and Tay Ho Temple which is dedicated to St. Lieu Hanh, one of the four immortals in the Vietnamese pantheon and the prime saint of the Vietnamese mother cult. 
Complete your tour with a stop at a traditional Vietnamese café, where you can relax, try a Vietnamese coffee or tea and reflect your unforgettable cycling experience.

DAY 3 HANOI CRAFT VILLAGE TOUR(B/L/-)
FULL DAY HANOI CRAFT VILLAGES
Meet our experienced tour guide at your hotel and start your excursion to the craft villages west of Hanoi. 

The first village on your itinerary is the Van Phuc silk weaving village, situated on the banks of the Nhue Thi River, 8 km west of Hanoi. The village is well known for its traditional sericulture, silk weaving and silk ware. You can admire beautiful shirts, silk craft, ties, dresses and many other products made of silk. The silk is still being made in the traditional Vietnamese way using century old techniques.

Continue to visit Phu Vinh rattan and bamboo weaving craft village. The traditional handicraft was developed in the 18th century. At present, about 85% of the households here engage in the production of rattan and bamboo products.

Drive on to Chuong Village. This small village has maintained its century long reputation for making the famous and symbolic conical hats. On market days, you will have a chance to witness a wonderful scene with the village’s market ground being covered with thousands of conical palm hats, known in Vietnamese as “non”. The village market takes place on the days that end with number zero or number four in the lunar calendar.

Continue driving south and visit Chuyen My Village – famous for carpentry and mother-of-pearl inlaying. The salient features of Chuyen My inlay are perfect pieces of mother of pearl: unbroken, flat, and tightly fitted to the carved wood. Designs of mother-of-pearl are lively and special – a blend of jungle and sea. 

On the way back to Hanoi you will visit Quat Dong Village – known for being the patrimonial land of traditional embroidery. 

Finally, visit Ha Thai lacquer village which is famous for its distinguished lacquer ware. Products are made with a century-old technique of applying and polishing layer upon layer of Vietnamese lacquer (Rhus Succedanea). Combined with egg shell and mother-of-pearl inlays, the lacquer ware found here comes in thousands of designs and models.

DAY 4 HANOI – HALONG BAY – OVERNIGHT ON BOARD(B/L/D)
Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi. Drive to Halong Bay. At noon, arrive in Halong City and check-in between 11:30-12:00 hrs at the Emeraude Cafe in Halong City. Enjoy a refreshing “Welcome Cocktail” upon check-in on the sun deck. Cruise commences and the lavish buffet lunch served at the restaurant. Visit by tender to see the Sung Sot Caves (Cave of Surprises) if weather permitting. Option of kayaking (at surcharge) or swimming near Hang Trong anchorage Vietnamese cuisine demonstration at the sun deck. 
Happy hour with complimentary canapés at the sun deck bar. Scrumptious International Buffet Dinner served at the restaurant. Evening movie show at the sun deck.

DAY 5 HALONG BAY – HAI PHONG – NINH BINH(B/-/D)
Wake up the next morning at sunrise, practice Tai Chi on the sun deck, feel the early morning salt water scent; bask in the early sun rising from behind the mountains. 
After an energizing western breakfast, check out at around 09:30 hrs, savouring a most memorable trip to Halong onboard historical Emeraude. 
Drive to Hai Phong, where you will visit the bustling centre of this important harbour town. Visit Du Hang Pagoda and Hang Kenh Communal House, both with fine examples of traditional woodcarvings. Enjoying a cup of coffee near the Opera House while watching life go by. Later in the afternoon, continue driving to Ninh Binh.

DAY 6 NINH BINH – TAM COC – HOA LU – PHAT DIEM – NINH BINH(B/L/-)
Drive to Tam Coc, often called “Dry Halong Bay”. Limestone rocks rise from rice fields and winding streams. Enjoy the spectacular scenery during a leisurely boat ride in traditional local sampans to Tam Coc caves. 
Visit Bich Dong Pagoda and Temples of the Dinh and Le Dynasties. Proceed to Phat Diem and visit the stone church, a striking architectural complex in the style of a Vietnamese pagoda. 
Return to Ninh Binh.

DAY 7 NINH BINH – OVERNIGHT TRAIN TO DONG HOI(B/-/D)
Full day at leisure. Enjoy dinner at the hotel before transferring to Ninh Binh Railway Station for your overnight train departure to Dong Hoi, (local train, sharing 4-berth air-conditioned compartment).

Notes:
The train (HN1) departs from Ninh Binh at 21:30 hrs and will arrive in Dong Hoi at 06:27 hrs. Train schedule is subject to change.
Our tour guide will not accompany you on the train.

DAY 8 DONG HOI – PHONG NHA – DONG HOI(B/L/D)
PHONG NHA – KE BANG WORLD NATURAL HERITAGE SITE
Upon arrival at Dong Hoi Railway Station, meet your local tour guide and have Vietnamese breakfast at a local restaurant. 
Drive up north to Phong Nha and take a boat trip on the Son River from a critical point of the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail to Phong Nha. About 300 caves have been counted in this area so far. This proves the significance of this karsts cave system of which Phong Nha Cave, known as being among the longest and most beautiful karsts caves in the world, has been listed by UNESCO as a world natural heritage site. The boat will take you as far inside as Bi Ky chamber where you will find traces of ancient inhabitants. 
Back at the pier, you will have lunch at a local restaurant and then drive about 25 km to visit Thien Duong Cave (Paradise Cave), another huge and beautiful cave just opened to the public.
Return to Dong Hoi. Check-in at the hotel and time at leisure.

DAY 9 DONG HOI – VINH MOC TUNNELS – DONG HA – KHE SANH – HUE  (B/L/-)
This morning, head south to Hue. On the way you will visit some of the war sites of the Vietnam-American War, including the Vinh Moc Tunnels, Ben Hai River, Hien Luong Bridge, Khe Sanh military base and Dong Ha Town. Have picnic lunch at a simple restaurant. Next stop will be the ancient citadel of Quang Tri which was built in 1824, during the 4th year of the reign of Emperor Minh Mang. The citadel still bears the scars of one of the fiercest battles during the Vietnam-American War.
Upon arrival to Hue, check-in at the hotel.

DAY 10 HUE CITY AND SURROUNDINGS(B/L/-)
IMPERIAL CITY AND CYCLO TOUR THROUGH OLD HUE
Explore the Imperial City of Hue. The Hue Citadel is situated on the Northern bank of the Perfume River and built by Emperor Gia Long it was designed for the exclusive use of the Emperor and his household. The Citadel is a square 2 km wall  encompassing 3 walled enclosures; the Citadel, Kinh Thanh Hue, the Yellow  Imperial city, Hoang Thanh and in the centre the Forbidden Purple city Tu Cam Thanh where the Emperor lived. The Hue royal complex has been officially recognized by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Then, the cyclo will take you through the narrow lanes of old Hue, passing homes, shops, hidden cafés, bonsai gardens and parks.

THE EMPERORS’ TOMBS
Hue’s environment is dotted with tombs of past emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty. Construction of the tombs was meticulous carried out starting whilst the king was still alive in order to ensure his comfort in the next life. Most of the tombs have courtyards, a temple for worship, statues of elephants and figures and a pond, but the layout of each is different reflecting differing each king’s personality and style. They have a lovely peaceful atmosphere. Visit Minh Mang, Khai Dinh and Tu Duc Royal Tombs, considered to be the three most beautiful mausoleums around Hue.

DAY 11 HUE – HOI AN (B/L/-)
The journey to Hoi An will take you via the scenic Hai Van Pass. Have a short rest on top of the pass for photos and a spectacular panorama view of Danang, the economic hub of the central region.
Continue to drive to Hoi An. Known to early Western merchants, Hoi An was one of the major trading centres of Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Hoi An has a distinctive Chinese atmosphere with low, tiled-roof houses and narrow streets; the original structure of some of these streets is still virtually intact. Many of the houses are constructed of rare timbers and decorated with lacquer panels engraved with Chinese characters and pillars carved with ornamental designs. Take a short boat ride across the river to a boat builder’s yard and woodcarvers. 
After lunch at a local restaurant, return to the town for a discovery tour on foot through Hoi An Ancient Town which has been enlisted as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage since 1999. You will visit some of the historic merchant and community houses, places of worship and famous bridges.

DAY 12 HOI AN (B/L/-)
COOKING CLASS AT RED BRIDGE COOKING SCHOOL
Transfer to Hai Scout Café in Hoi An town for a welcome drink. Visit Hoi An’s colourful market and experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of this busy market. Take the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and learn about all the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later.
Board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. This is a chance to view local river life, so make sure your camera is ready.
On arrival, explore the cooking school’s herb garden, before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours. The Red Bridge chefs first demonstrate each dish before you prepare the same dish yourself. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration). After the lesson, indulge your cooking.
Afternoon is at leisure to
•Take the shuttle bus from the hotel and return to Hoi An Village
•Relax near the river or pool
•Take a bicycle to the near beach and enjoy swimming

DAY 13 HOI AN – DANANG – NHA TRANG COUNTRYSIDE CYCLING SAFARI(B/L/-)
Transfer to Danang airport for your flight to Nha Trang. Upon arrival to Nha Trang, transfer to your hotel.

HALF DAY COUNTRYSIDE CYCLING SAFARI
Our countryside cycling safari takes you along scenic trails to small local villages, towns and farms. These tailor-made biking excursions are one of the best ways to experience the “true” Vietnamese countryside and culture. Stop at handpicked scenic spots for taking unique shots of the rural life and enjoy a sumptuous picnic lunch along the way. Bicycles, water, fruits and a snack lunch will be provided.

DAY 14 NHA TRANG CITY AND ISLAND TOUR – DALAT(B/L/-)
NHA TRANG CITY AND ISLAND TOUR
Visit the Po Nagar Temples – outstanding examples of Cham architecture situated on Mount Cu Lao. Savour the panoramic views of the surrounding bay and countryside from the hilltop. The Po Nagar Cham Towers are sacred Hindu site dating back to the 2nd century AD. The town was built between the 7th and 12th centuries and is still used as a place of pilgrimage for Cham and Vietnamese Buddhists. 

Then, drive to Cau Da pier for a scenic boat cruise to some of Nha Trang’s beautiful offshore islands and a fishing village. 

Disembark and depart Nha Trang for Dalat, a cool mountain resort (transfer time is approx. 2,5 hours, depending on traffic). Its lakes, waterfalls, evergreen forest and gardens make Dalat one of the most enjoyable places in Vietnam. While Nha Trang is noted for its warm climate all year round, Dalat is mild and cool. 

Upon arrival to Dalat, check into the hotel.

DAY 15 DALAT – TRAI MAT – DALAT CITY TOUR(B/-/D)
EXCURSION TO TRAI MAT BY TRAIN
09:15 hrs: Depart from your hotel and transfer to Dalat train station. The building is a unique architectural work – combining European style with the design of steep roofed Vietnamese stilt houses, typical for the Central Highlands region. The original architecture and setting has been well preserved. On the platform, there is an old steam locomotive on display together with a piece of the cog rail used in mountainous areas to prevent the train from sliding downhill . The station was recognized as national heritage in 1981 and in 2004, seven kilometres of the Dalat-Trai Mat section was restored and put into operation for tourism purposes.
09:50 hrs: Departure to Trai Mat. The carriages have been restored to the old days touch. As the locomotive struggles though the Dalat hilly suburb, enjoy the spectacular view of greenhouses and flower gardens along the route.
10:15 hrs: Arrive at Trai Mat, walk to visit Linh Phuoc Pagoda which boasts great works of the local artisans with inlayed ceramics, glass pieces and a great bell tower, featuring one of the biggest cast bronze bells in Vietnam.
Return to Dalat by road. This road offers more scenic views of the city’s terraced vegetable fields. En route, you have the opportunity to visit Dabeco (Dalat Beverage Company) wine processing establishment. Join in a wine tasting, trying the various local wines and have a look at the wine production process (this visit is subject to working schedule of the factory). 

DALAT CITY TOUR
Lying 1,500 m above sea level and surrounded by pine hills, Dalat has been known as the prime hill resort city  thanks to its mild weather, romantic valleys, tranquil lakes surrounded by pine hills, colonial time villas, pagodas and monasteries. Dalat is also the flower festival city of Vietnam.
In the afternoon, you will visit the bustling local market where farmers came and sell their daily produce. Continue to visit the summer palace of the former emperor Bao Dai. The next stop will be the Hang Nga House, also known as “Crazy House”, a unique piece of art by Madam Viet Nga, a contemporary architect. Finish your tour with a walk through Golden Valley where Bonsais and rare flowers can be admired.

DAY 16 DALAT – HO CHI MINH CITY(B/-/-)
Leisure time until transfer to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. 

HALF DAY SAIGON CITY TOUR
Formerly known as Saigon, today’s Ho Chi Minh City is the bustling and vibrating economic centre of the South. Over the past few centuries, Saigon was called the “Pearl of the Far East” and was an important trading centre for Chinese, Japanese and Western merchants who travelled along the Saigon River.
Your sightseeing tour includes visiting bustling Cholon (Chinatown), Thien Hau pagoda, one of the oldest pagodas of the Chinese in the area and colourful Ben Than Market. Notre Dame Cathedral inaugurated in 1880 became the spiritual and cultural crucible of the French presence in the Orient as was the Post office designed by Gustav Eiffel and resembling a grand railway station. 
Photo stop at the former Presidential Palace, renowned for its symbolic role in the fall of Saigon in 1975 and continue to visit the War Remnants Museum.

Late afternoon, enjoy a performance at the water puppet theatre.

DAY 17 HO CHI MINH CITY – CU CHI TUNNELS– HO CHI MINH CITY(B/-/-)
CU CHI TUNNELS
Visit Cu Chi Tunnels (70 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City), an amazing complex of underground tunnels used during the Vietnam War. There are more than 200 km of tunnels, comprising a main axis system with many branches connecting to underground hideouts, shelters and other tunnels. You have the chance to crawl through this amazing system of tunnels. For a more “thrilling” experience, you can even test your shooting skills on original AK47s and other guns from past war times (subject to a surcharge).

The afternoon is free at leisure for your own exploration or join our wonderful optional excursions, such as a dinner cruise on the Bonsai boat.

DAY 18 HO CHI MINH CITY – MEKONG DELTA WITH SONG XANH CRUISE TO CAN THO (B/L/D)


Pick up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to Cai Be. Upon arrival, embark on the romantic Song Xanh Sampan. The excursion starts at around 10:00 hrs from the pier in Phu An hamlet located next to Cai Be town.
Visit some local home factories where the rice paste, coconut candies and other specialties are traditionally made. The sampan will then take direction of Vinh Long and Sa Dec, cruising by Dong Phu and An Binh islets famous for their fruit orchards. After crossing the large Co Chien River, the sampan will pass under the spectacular My Thuan Bridge over the Tien River. It will then cruise on a small beautiful canal through water jacinth plantations… Disembark to take a small rowing boat for a cruise along a narrow canal passing by a local tiny village and fruit plantations.
Sa Dec town will appear like a little “Venice” with numerous narrow canals. Disembark at the local market place for a guided visit of this charming town,walking along its narrow streets where beautiful French old houses and Chinese temples dating from the last century are numerous. 
Have lunch at an ancient house dating from 1890, home of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, the “Lover” of Marguerite Dura’s famous writer (see her novel and adapted movie “The Lover”). Back on board the Song Xanh Sampan, enjoy cruising down to Can Tho along a beautiful narrow canal, passing under several wooden “monkey bridges” and by tiny typical villages. With some stops on the banks you will get the chance get in contact with the local population. A visit will be done at a Cao Daist temple.
Have dinner at an ancient house or “Nha Co” dating from the early 19th century. 
After dinner, cruise for approximately one hour until Can Tho where the sampan will moor for the night in a quiet place.

DAY 19 CAI RANG – CAN THO – HO CHI MINH CITY(B/-/-)


At around 06:00 hrs, the Sampan will slowly start cruising. Breakfast will be served on board at 07:00 hrs while approaching Cai Rang market - the largest floating market  in the Mekong Delta. Passing by countless sampans, boats carrying sand, rice, fruits and vegetables, fish, flowers, you will witness the liveliness of the floating markets and the waterways of the Mekong Delta.
Disembark at Ninh Kieu pier in Can Tho after a visit to the local market. 
Pick up and transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City.
The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.
